More info

Monochamus galloprovincialis is a beetle that feeds on woody plant tissue. It lives on virtually all species of Pinus, and even Abies and Picea. It does not reproduce in healthy trees, but is only attracted to trees that are severely stressed, dying or recently dead, and to freshly cut wood. Adults browse on the bark and phloem of growing twigs, and the larvae are phloem-xylophagous

ECONEX MONOCHAMUS ATTRACTANT 60 DAYS kairomone diffuser, a certified product to use in organic farming, attract both male and female insects of the species. It is effective for 60 days.

Monochamus galloprovincialis has been identified as the vector of Pine Wilt Disease, caused by the nematode Bursaphelenchus xylophilus. Therefore, one of the fundamental tools for controlling its vector, as this is the only means of transmission of the nematode from one tree to another.

PERIOD OF USE:

The beginning of the flight period for adults is at the end of May and lasts until the end of September, and even October in areas where temperatures are not extremely cold. However, July and August are usually the months with the highest activity for adults. For proper control of Monochamus galloprovincialis, it is recommended to monitor the pest using ECONEX MONOCHAMUS ATTRACTANT 60 DAYS.

APPLICATION:

For detection and monitoring in nematode-free areas, a trap should be installed in forest stands every 20 hectares, separated from each other by at least 1000 m. In areas smaller than 20 hectares, at least on trap shall be installed per stand or forest stand. Generally, traps should be installed and operational between April and December.

HOW THE DIFFUSERS WORK:

ECONEX MONOCHAMUS ATTRACTANT 60 DAYS are blister-shaped diffusers and are packaged in an aluminium envelope with a specification label. Once removed from the packaging, the diffusers do not need to be activated or opened. It only needs to be placed correctly in the trap.
